My friend Laura eating Balut. Balut: a fertilized duck (or chicken) egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled and eaten in the shell. They are common, everyday food in some countries in Southeast Asia, such as in the Philippines, Cambodia, and Vietnam. (Definition from Wikipedia)
My Mom's family playing Majung. A really difficult domino game that I do not know how to play. But they love it!

Thanks for starting this blog Caitlin.

I've been thinking about volunteering in the Philippines and was excited to find your blog.

I look forward to reading more about your adventures there. I visited the Philippines in August 2005. I sponsored the education of 2 college students there. I'm learning Tagalog and find the Filipino culture fascinating. Good luck! Ingat ka palagi.
